Malindo Air is scheduled to make the maiden Taipei-Kota Kinabalu-Labuan charter flight in July.
Labuan MP Datuk Rozman Isli said the thrice regular (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) charter flight till Sept would help to rejuvenate the island’s tourism industry.
“Malaysia Airports Berhad (La–buan) has brought great news on the charter flight from Malindo Air.
“This will help boost our tourism industry, ” Rozman said during the Labuan International Sea Challen-ger 2017 shutting ceremony at the Ocean Sport Complex here late Sunday.
“Those in the transportation sector, food dealing with business and accommodation providers need to make sure that their services aren’t questioned, as we want the tourists to come back.
“We hope everyone works toget-her, especially the business community to always avoid unethical acti-vities such as trade profiteering also to always be tourist-friendly for the sake of this island then, ” said Rozman, that is also the Labuan Organization chairman.
He added that the charter flights would also pave the way for bilate-ral trade between the local and Taiwanese business communities.
“While Malindo Air indicates interest in establishing the international hire flights, we must not be complacent but rather work harder to revive the island’s economy.
“We need to accept and make changes in our bid to provide international standard services, ” he added.
